Wholesaler Spicers has announced that, as part of the ongoing review of its operations, there is a proposal to close the Regional Distribution Centre in Birmingham.
Spicers has commenced a consultation process with staff who may be affected by this proposal. It is expected that this consultation will be concluded week ending 21st February 2010.

This has been on the cards for (donkeys) years. Question is, where and how will Spicers service dealers once the depot is shut? DDC? Bristol? If I were a dealer in the catchment area, I would be worried.

I for one will be very sad to see Birmingham RDC close,they have always been very friendly and professional in my opinion.
I have dealt with many RDCs over the years and Birmingham have been by far the best.
I wish the staff there all the best for the future and hope they all find alternative employment as soon as possible.
