HERMA

Released 17/11/2008

Sales personnel changeover

After 48 years with the self-adhesive company, Herma's long-standing head of exports, Dieter Waldbüsser, is to retire during the first quarter of 2009 but the company states that plans for a ‘smooth transition' are in place. His official departure is to coincide with the Paperworld 2009 trade fair, which will be his 30th. Responsibility for the pan-European business with Herma-branded office, school and photographic products passes to Axel Hennemann, recruited by Herma in 2002 and currently in charge of sales in Germany, Austria and Switzerland; he is said to be already familiarising himself with the new markets. At the same time, MD Sven Schneller is to assume control of the business with these products outside of Europe.

Thirty-three years as "foreign minister"
Stressing the significance of the retirement, Schneller commented: "Dieter Waldbüsser is a dyed-in-the-wool member of the Herma team. He contributed significantly to raising our export ratio to more than 50%." Waldbüsser joined HERMA in 1961 as a commercial apprentice. After occupying various posts in the company, in Germany and abroad, he was appointed head of exports at the age of 29. He has now been investing his great vitality in the role very successfully for 33 years. "He has served our company rather like a foreign minister. He understood brilliantly not only how to forge contacts and win new friends, but also how to foster long-term relationships over great distances," added Schneller. "For many of our customers and sales partners, he was simply Mr Herma." In addition, Dieter Waldbüsser was for many years a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Employers' Association.

Additional impetus
"The Herma brand already enjoys a very strong reputation in numerous markets," remarked Schneller. He went on to outline the goals in his new role as head of sales: "Building on the solid foundations that have been established, we intend to sustain our international growth on the European markets, where further potential can be harnessed. In Europe, the individual sub-markets are merging very rapidly. For this reason, we also expect the forthcoming amalgamation of sales responsibility to give fresh impetus to the company's further development."
