Disk drive vendor adds strength to TDI portfolio

Tech Data International (TDI) has been appointed to distribute the full range of hard disk drive and external storage solutions from Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST).

The agreement strengthens Tech Data's portfolio and provides resellers and systems builders throughout Europe with improved access to Hitachi GST's range, which addresses a broad range of markets, from notebook and consumer PCs to enterprise data centres.

Commenting on the agreement, Janis Kemers, director, Tech Data International, stated: "Tech Data is delighted to have formed a partnership with Hitachi GST which, as one of the world's largest disk drive producers, has an enviable reputation for quality and reliability.

"This agreement significantly strengthens and expands our portfolio and will enable Tech Data to offer a comprehensive choice of storage solutions to all our customers across the European region."

The agreement underlines Tech Data's growing strength in the storage market, said Kemers. "Hitachi GST has a tremendously broad range of solutions that address a broad spectrum of markets in which there is real potential for growth.

"Its portfolio includes 3.5 and 2.5 inch hard-disk drives for PCs, servers, notebook PCs, enterprise solutions, audio/video applications, and digital personal media players, as well external hard-disk drives. This agreement adds considerable strength and depth to our offering and underlines our long-term commitment to driving growth in the storage market."

The Hitachi GST product ranges on offer from Tech Data will include Travelstar serial ATA (SATA) drives for notebooks, gaming systems, compact desktop systems, and external storage solutions; Deskstar SATA drives for commercial and consumer PCs, high-performance gaming systems, workstations, high-capacity video surveillance, personal storage and desktop RAID solutions; Ultrastar
line of SATA, Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) and Fiber Channel (FC) hard drives that support the enterprise digital ecosystem; CinemaStar AV drives; and Hitachi External Hard Drives.
