Wholesaler to consolidate furniture in Lutterworth

Spicers is to launch a new service proposition for furniture in conjunction with its third party logistics partner DHL.

The new service will consolidate all furniture into one site at Lutterworth and will be supported by an expanded product range, including products for specific market sectors and ranges from European sources.

Spicers has confirmed the following benefits for the service.

  • ‘Dynamic intervention' or telephone contact confirms a delivery date to suit the recipient of the furniture, be it the dealer or the end user. Until now as many as 10% of deliveries were returned due to customers not being available to receive the delivery. Now there will be agreement with the recipient. For two-person deliveries of large items, the customer will also receive a text or voice message to confirm when an order is despatched.
  • The centralisation of all furniture stocks will ensure a higher order-fill as orders will be delivered from a single source.
  • With fewer touch-points from stock arriving at the central warehouse facility to delivery to the final customer, any risk of damage will be much reduced.
  • With all the stock in one location there will be full visibility of furniture stocks on a dealers systems.
  • Track-and-trace will be a new facility offered on Spicers Furniture orders with traceability of orders via the DHL website including an electronic proof of delivery.

The transition to the new service will take place during April and May and Spicers' sales and service teams will be in regular contact with dealers during this period to ensure that they are aware of the improvements to the service and how the transition will be phased.
