BYO ‘officer’ supplies

Released 12/03/2010

Police told to bring in their own staplers

Police officers, already on sick leave, were asked to report into work to help with paperwork, for which they were told to bring their own staplers, reports The Metro.

An email sent by Greater Manchester Police asked around 900 staff to help attach a staff survey onto payslips.

The request was branded as "appalling" by Inspector Ian Hanson of the Police Federation, who said it was "absolute nonsense" for staff to be asked to make up for shortages in office supplies.

The force has apologised for causing any offence.
