The report shows that it expects to see certain niche sectors of the industry experiencing growth over the coming years, especially if they are able to tap into the rising demand for products offering value for money and more personalised designs. By 2014, the report forecasts that the apparent market value will reach £1.6 billion.
It also predicts rapid growth across much of the developing world, particularly in China and India.
This seems to be due to increased urbanisation in these markets. People are moving from rural locations into cities for work and increased life opportunities, this in turn will increase the urban workforce.
China has been one of the world's leading exporters of stationery for some time. However, the strong growth in its internal markets means that the country is expected to overtake the US as the largest user of office consumables.
India has also experienced domestic growth as many multinational companies relocate to its major cities.
