Nemo conference engages members and suppliers

This year’s Nemo Refresh ’17 conference was held in Old Windsor at the Beaumont Estate Hotel, and once again demonstrated the solid community Nemo has.

The weekend saw over an 85% attendance from Full Members and a huge turnout from exhibitors, as the group showed its magic formula of bringing suppliers and members together in a convivial and productive weekend.

Nemo members turned out in force to support their supplier partners, reaffirming the special relationship Nemo has with its suppliers, many first-time exhibitors.

The annual golf tournament started proceedings, followed by a fabulous Thames cruise, where luckily no-one fell overboard!

Stuart Colley from Antalis commended the relaxed atmosphere as being conducive to discussions with members. “The boat trip was a nice change to the afternoon activities and added to the relaxed feel of the conference,” he added.

Friday evening’s medieval theme impressed delegates; set in the historic Chapel, the room was adorned with medieval decoration, replica props, and fancy dress galore as everyone competed to win best costume. The night was complete with stilt walkers, acrobatics, stocks, and rival king and queens from headline sponsors Antalis, Evolution, Spicers and VOW.

Saturday morning saw members get expert advice on the next big thing in business – GDPR – followed by a first look at the brand-new Evolution X software.

Members and suppliers were then treated to a masterclass in customer service by renowned speaker Geoff Ramm, who inspired delegates to bolster their levels of customer service to celebrity level. 

Business continued with the exhibition, which boasted an impressive 45 stands. The exhibition atmosphere was positive, whilst Twitter was inundated with photos, welcomes and stand prize winners.

Gordon Moore from Dams reflected: “The conference certainly lived up to expectations. A well-attended event with a real positive feeling that opportunity is out there for all of us and that the future looks promising.”

The event finished in style as the Gala Awards and Dinner took over the hotel on Saturday evening, where guests enjoyed a luxurious three course meal at the black-tie event, whilst entertainment was provided by a trio of top comedians and a surprise appearance from a duo of singing waiters, who wowed the crowd with their balance of rat pack inspired songs and comedic quips.

Attendees were very generous with their fundraising for Nemo’s chosen charity: Alzheimer’s Research UK raising £1060.

The 2017 Gala Awards followed, recognising the achievements throughout the year.

Tim Beaumont, Nemo MD, congratulated all the winners on the night and thanked all the delegates, Nemo members and staff who helped to make the weekend such an enjoyable, successful and positive one.

Kate Robson, Prima Software praised the event, saying: “Nemo events are always great fun for everyone involved and provide a great opportunity for suppliers and members to network. Overall, the event was very well organised and a lot of fun!”

Nemo member John Fitton from Office Supplies Now added: “It was a valued, well organised weekend, spending time with suppliers and industry friends in a supportive atmosphere, topped off with fun entertainment!”
